Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Wide Receiver the Athlete

The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night indicating they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player the athlete and were in communication with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of Rice specifically in their announcement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete by name, shared a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the second round.

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Rice's Prior Legal Issues

Rice was absent for the first six games of this season following an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that left several individuals injured. He was given 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to felony charges.

On the field, Rice finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs went 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
